Homework
Students will be given homework in both Language Arts and Social Studies. All homework is designed to help students practice the skills or concepts learned throughout the day and is expected to be turned in on the given due date. When possible, all homework will be posted on Edmodo and/or on the classroom website.
In my classroom, we will be using the "What will Your Stats Be?" homework board. Students will earn a sticker or stamp for each completed assignment that is handed in on time. By completing their homework assignments, students will not only gain the necessary skills to be successful in class, but will also be given the chance to earn classroom rewards.
Agenda
Each day, we will record all of your child's homework. Your child should use his/her agenda on a regular basis to keep up with his/her assignments. The agenda is a great organizational tool that will also keep parents informed of what students are learning at school. An agenda will be given to each student at the beginning of the year.
Weekly Homework Expectations
Compass Learning - at least 30 minutes of Language Arts AND 30 minutes of Math per week
Independent Reading - at least 20-30 minutes of independent reading per day = 140-210 minutes per week
Absent Work
Absent work must be made up. It is the students' responsibility to get any missing work. Students should provide teachers with notice of a planned absence so work can be gathered. Students can also look on the classroom website and/or Edmodo to gather any missing work.
